About Mary Aceto

Career Consultant

I’ve been there. When I look back on my work life, I have had many twists, turns and shifts in my career.

It’s interesting to look back and think about why I left certain jobs, why I jumped on opportunities that paid off, times when I was stretched to the max between family and career and times when I was hitting my stride professionally and feeling the love! Lows, highs, inspiring, frustrating, energizing and yet sometimes paralyzing. We often say that work is not what defines us but let’s face it, we spend an inordinate amount of time commuting to work, worrying about work, overthinking work, and yes, actually doing the work.

How much time have you spent envisioning the job you really want, feeling proud and confident in the way you present yourself on paper, on line and in person and ultimately having a satisfying and happy career?

I partner with clients to be sure that you recognize and believe in the strengths and skills you offer and can articulate them with confidence. We will work together on job search strategies and create strong supporting materials so that you feel great about networking, interviewing and landing the job that you want.

Professional Background

I have worked as a business professional throughout my career. In my early years, I held positions in operations, recruiting, management and human resources. In 2000, I became a Senior Vice President of Human Resources for a Fidelity Investment portfolio company and in 2005 had HR oversight for several domestic and international operating companies owned and operated by Fidelity Investments. I have been responsible for the screening, hiring and on-boarding of hundreds of employees from front line employees to senior leaders and CEOs. This background enables me to provide real world insight for my clients to understand how they are being evaluated, perceived and compared during the interview process. After leaving Fidelity, I became a Senior Certified Career Consultant to work with clients one-on-one. I can proudly say that I have helped so many people become more confident, more prepared and in control of their professional destiny!

Personal Background

My husband and I have lived in the Merrimack Valley (Massachusetts) for over 30 years both in North Andover and currently in West Newbury.

Community

My volunteerism is centered in the Merrimack Valley.
I am a proud volunteer Wish Grantor with Make a Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Chapter. As a wish grantor, I work directly with the child and family to help make wishes come true! I also represent Make a Wish as a speaker to express first-hand gratitude to organizations for their fundraising and donations to Make a Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

I also am a trained hospice volunteer and have been volunteering at the High Pointe House (Merrimack Valley Hospice and Palliative Care) weekly for over 5 years.

In 2016, I had the privilege to train and serve as an Honor Flight New England guardian. The mission of this organization is to transport WWII and Korean Veterans on a trip to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. It remains one of the most memorable and humbling days of my life and I hope to do it again.

I partner with clients to be sure that YOU recognize and believe in the strengths and skills you offer, can articulate them and to target your resume, interview responses and network to get the position you want.
